Australia’s Adam Zampa reached a remarkable milestone during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 final against India on Sunday. The leggie matched the long-standing record of spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan for most wickets taken by a spinner in a single edition of the ODI World Cup.
Zampa achieved the feat in the 45th over of the Indian innings when he bowled a length delivery with scrambled seem to trap Jasprit Bumrah in front. The Aussie leg-spinner managed to pick up just one wicket in his spell which helped him reach a remarkable milestone.
Zampa ended up picking 23 wickets in 11 matches in the ongoing World Cup. Sri Lanka legend Muralitharan pocketed the same number of wickets in the 2007 edition of the tournament, held in the Caribbean.
