The new machine at Ramchet’s kiosk in Sultanpur.
“I am extremely thankful to Rahul ji for the kind gesture. I had asked him to help me as I hardly earned anything as a cobbler,” Ramchet told News18
In a pleasant surprise for Ramchet, a cobbler on Vidhayak Nagar Crossing in Sultanpur, a sophisticated shoe-mending machine got delivered to his shop on Saturday, a day after Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi met him.
On Friday, Gandhi was in UP’s Sultanpur to appear before the MP\MLA court regarding a defamation case linked to remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. After the proceedings, while en route to Delhi via Purvanchal Expressway, his convoy halted for five minutes at Vidhayak Nagar Crossing under Kurebhar Police Station, Sultanpur.
“Rahul ji’s visit to my kiosk was no less than God’s visit to me. I am extremely thankful to Rahul ji for the kind gesture. I had asked him to help me as I hardly earned anything as a cobbler. I am thankful to him, I haven’t seen any neta like this,” Ramchet told News18.
Ramchet said that Gandhi enquired about his work and family and also discussed about his difficulties.
Ramchet, who has been in the profession for the past 40 years, said, “I was wondering that like other netas who are known to forget their promises, he, too, might have forgotten me after leaving Sultanpur. But I was wrong. I am thankful to Rahul ji for lending a helping hand and for keeping his word. I am sure this machine would help me further in expanding my work.”
“People’s leader Rahul Gandhi ji met cobbler Ramchait ji in Sultanpur (UP) yesterday and understood the intricacies of his work. Now a shoe stitching machine has been sent to him, which will make it easier for Ramchait ji to stitch shoes,” the Congress posted in ‘X’.
