On the news of shortage of fertilizer during sowing of Rabi crops in Gorakhpur, State Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi clarified that there is no fertilizer crisis in any district of Uttar Pradesh. He claimed that the state and central governments together will provide necessary assistance to the farmers.

9 lakh tonnes of fertilizer reached farmers in Rabi season While talking to journalists at the Circuit House Auditorium on Saturday, Shahi said that this time crops are to be sown in 190 lakh hectares in the state in the Rabi season. So far, 9 lakh tonnes of phosphate fertilizers (DAP and NPK) have been provided to the farmers. In Gorakhpur division, 5424 tonnes of fertilizer has been delivered to farmers through resource cooperative societies and 27,568 tonnes through private sector.
Distribution of 92 racks completed on fertilizer supply Minister Shahi said that since November till now, 92 racks of fertilizers have arrived in the state, out of which 50 racks were placed at the stations and 42 racks were distributed to the farmers. A total of more than 2.50 lakh tonnes of fertilizer has been made available. For the convenience of farmers, instructions have been given to distribute 30 percent of private sector fertilizer to resource cooperative societies.
Seeds available for farmers at 50% discount He also informed that 6.89 lakh quintals of basic and certified seeds are being made available to the farmers at 50 percent discount. Through this the government will distribute a grant of Rs 410 crore.
Appeal for participation in Krishi Kumbh The Agriculture Minister appealed to the farmers of the state including Gorakhpur to participate in the ongoing Krishi Mahakumbh in Lucknow. He said that in this event which will run till November 19, farmers will get a chance to know and understand advanced technology, research and innovation.
Confident of victory on all nine seats in by-elections In response to a question on the by-election, the minister said that BJP will win all nine seats. Taking aim at the opposition, he said that in the Lok Sabha and the Assembly, the opposition tried to corner Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, but every time it proved unsuccessful. Frustrated with his false promises, the public is now asking questions.
