At one time, the pair of Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai was well-liked. Both worked together in many films including Mohabbatein. However, later their relationship soured. The reason was that Shahrukh had replaced Aishwarya with many films.
Aishwarya had said in an interview that she and Shah Rukh were supposed to work together in the film Chalte Chalte, but suddenly she was dropped from the film without informing. Rani Mukherjee was cast in place of Aishwarya. Later, Shahrukh Khan also apologized to Aishwarya for this.
Aishwarya gave a sharp reaction to Shahrukh

Shahrukh made pressure and got him out of the film
Aishwarya Rai was the first choice of director Yash Chopra for the film Chalte Chalte. According to the reports, Shah Rukh Khan had put pressure on Yash Chopra to replace him in the film.
Even Aishwarya was not aware that she was dropped from the film. Rani Mukerji was cast in her place. This thing had hurt Aishwarya a lot. Since then, there was bitterness in the relationship between Aishwarya and Shahrukh.

Shahrukh Khan was also questioned on this subject. Then he said, ‘I was personally very sad that Aishwarya could not be a part of the film Chalte Chalte. Me and him are very good friends, we have done many films together. I am very sorry that the matter has reached this level (Aishwarya’s removal from the film).
As a producer, my hands were tied. I was not the only producer of the film. We wanted to finish the film in three-four months. Though we did feel sad for Aishwarya afterwards, we thought this should not have happened.
Was Salman the real reason behind being dropped from the film?
Some reports also say that Aishwarya was fired from ‘Chalte Chalte’ because of Salman Khan. At that time the relationship between Salman and Aishwarya was very tense. Salman is said to have reached the sets of the film and started shouting loudly. There were also reports that there was a fight between Salman and Shahrukh regarding this matter.

Karan Johar brought Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh on the screen once again through his film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. Shah Rukh Khan had a guest appearance in this film.
