Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi’s film Selfie failed at the box office. The film has collected only 10.24 crores in three days. No one would have predicted that the film would do so poorly. Even Akshay himself would not have expected such a thing.
The film had a poor opening of 2.55 crores on the first day of its release. On the weekend, it was expected that there would be a jump in the film’s earnings, but it did not happen. There was a slight growth in the film’s earnings on the second and third day. Even in the fifth week, Pathan’s performance is better than Selfie’s.
Pathan’s brilliant performance even in the fifth week
Pathan has collected 2.45 crores on the fifth Sunday of its release. While Selfie has earned 3.89 crores. These figures are shocking considering Selfie has been released for only three days while Pathan has been running in theaters for over a month. Sharing the collection of the film, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote that the figures of Selfie are enough to disappoint the Hindi film industry.
Pathan is doing wonders even in the fifth week.
People shared Selfie’s box office numbers and took a pinch
Various memes are going viral on social media on Selfie’s box office numbers. People have taken a pinch while sharing the collection of Pathan and Selfie.
Let’s have a look at these memes..
Akshay Kumar’s lowest opening film
Look at the records of Akshay Kumar’s last 13 years, Selfie has become his lowest (2.55 crore) opening film. Even the film Bellbottom, released during the time of Kovid, also got a good opening from Selfie. Bellbottom had a first day collection of 2.75 crores. If we see the figures of this film in the budget of 120 crores, then it would not be wrong to say that the film is heading towards being a disaster.
Akshay’s stars running in decline
In the last two years, almost all the films released by Akshay Kumar have been flops. Ram Setu, Rakshabandhan and Prithviraj were badly beaten at the box office. Even his films released on OTT have not been able to impress the viewers much.
Selfie is the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film.
Selfie is directed by Raj Mehta. Apart from Akshay, Emraan Hashmi, Mrunal Thakur, Diana Penty, Nushrat Bharucha and Rahul Dev are seen in lead roles in the film. Selfie is the official remake of the Malayalam film Driving License, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
