Andhra Cabinet Approves Proposal to Shift Chief Minister’s Office to Visakhapatnam by Dussehra | Details – News18

The state cabinet also approved several bills including the draft bill for the regularisation of contract employees

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Wednesday took a slew of key decisions including shifting of CMO and other administrative offices to Visakhapatnam under the chairmanship of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Minister Chelluboina Srinivasa Venugopalakrishna while addressing a press conference said that the cabinet okayed the move to shift administrative offices, including Chief Minister’s Offices to Visakhapatnam by Dussehra.

He further added that CM Reddy had directed the constitution of a special committee for identifying office buildings in Visakhapatnam and preparing a roadmap to facilitate the shifting.

This apart, the state cabinet also approved several bills including the draft bill for the regularisation of contract employees, building 8,424 houses for Polavaram project flood victims, and providing Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 financial aid for the UPSC aspirants who clear their prelims and mains entrance examination.

The cabinet also gave its nod to implement the GPS Bill for government employees and further assured to provide a permanent house site to those government employees who do not have their own house before they retire from their service.

Elaborating further, Minister Chelluboina said the cabinet also decided to extend the Aarogyasri scheme benefits to the government employees including their kin, after they retired and implement fee reimbursement for the children of retired government employees.

AP Govt’s MoU with International Baccalaureate (IB) Organisation

Furthermore, given their commitment to providing world-class quality education, the AP Government entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the IB Organisation to introduce the IB syllabus in government schools.

The initiative will benefit over 80 lakh students across 60,000 government schools in Andhra Pradesh.

The government entered into the MoU to bridge the communication barrier for government school students who aspire to study in foreign Universities. The I & PR Minister said that the government will upscale the communication skills of the school students by teaching the IB syllabus from Class I.

He further elaborated that the government would amend the Universities Act to ensure that the students have the highest academic standards and joint certification with renowned universities.

According to the new amendment, the existing and newly established private universities will be tied up with the top 100 universities in the world to deliver the most optimum results.

Other key decisions taken by the Andhra Cabinet today

  • The decision to regularise the services benefitted 10,115 contract workers and 11,630 people working with APVP.
  • A total of 350 posts are to be filled at Guntur and Visakhapatnam Government Hospitals to provide Oncology care for cancer patients.
  • Nod to fill vacant posts in the Nursing colleges in Ongole, Eluru and Vijayawada.
  • 50% of seats in Kurupam Medical College are reserved for tribals.
  • UPSC aspirants are to receive Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 as a cash prize for clearing the Prelims and Mains entrance exams under the Jagananna Civil Services Protsaham scheme.
  • The Kakinada Bulk Drug project is to be shifted to Nakkapalli instead of the centre’s decision to set up the project on government land.
  • 28 drivers to be appointed in the High Court.
  • Amendment to the Bhoodhan Act.
  • Amendment to AP Vaidya Vidhan Parishad Bill.
  • Amendment to the Endowment Act.
  • AP Vaidya Vidhan Parishad Bill.
  • Regularisation of Assigned Lands, and Amendment of POT Act.
  • A convention centre is to be constructed on five acres in Visakhapatnam.
  • Accept mercy petition to nine life-sentence prisoners.
