Angus Cloud, the actor who played heroin dealer Fezco Fez O’Neill on HBO’s Euphoria, died in July of this year at age 25. Reportedly, Cait Bailey, the actor’s representative, stated that Angus Cloud died on July 31 at his family home in Oakland, California. Months after his sudden demise, the cause of his death has come to light. As per the latest reports, the actor died of acute intoxication resulting from an accidental overdose.
A report by People cited the investigative authorities and stated that Angus Cloud, at the time of his death, had cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and benzodiazepines in his system. Reportedly, these are depressant medications commonly used to treat illnesses such as anxiety disorders, sleeplessness, and seizures.
Earlier, Angus Cloud’s family released a statement. “It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today… As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways,” quoted a report by People.
In the statement, it was revealed that Angus Cloud’s father had passed away a week before his death, and the actor was struggling to accept this loss. Further, his family added, “The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health, and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence. We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone.”
Later, his mother, Lisa Cloud, took to her social media handle to share that the actor did not commit suicide. She wrote, “Although my son was in deep grief about his father’s untimely death from mesothelioma, his last day was a joyful one. He was reorganising his room and placing items around the house with the intent to stay a while in the home he loved. He spoke of his intent to help provide for his sisters at college, and also help his mom emotionally and financially. He did not intend to end his life.” Further, she stated that “Social media posts have suggested his death was intentional. I want you to know that is not the case. “
Euphoria was Angus Cloud’s acting debut. Reportedly, casting director Jennifer Venditti met with him, and series creator Sam Levinson eventually cast him with Zendaya in the show’s first two seasons.
