Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the mega country-wide cleanliness drive which was observed as a part of the Swachh Bharat initiative on Sunday along with famous fitness influencer Ankit Baiyanpuriya.

Baiyanpuriya who is famous for his catchphrase ‘Ram Ram Sareya Ne‘  gained popularity for promoting traditional and indigenous workout methods. He undertook a demanding 75 Hard Challenge to enhance his mental fortitude and self-discipline, which further brought his journey to prominence.

The cleanliness drive was called upon on the eve of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary and Modi urged everyone to undertake sanitation measures for an hour.

Who is Ankit Baiyanpuriya?

Ankit Baiyanpuria comes from a middle-class family. His father works as a farmer while his mother is a homemaker.

His career on YouTube started off by making funny videos in Haryanvi on his channel called Haryanvi Khagad. However, it was during the COVID-19 lockdown, that he shifted the focus of his content to fitness. Renaming the channel name to Ankit Baiyanpuria he started making videos on diets and workouts.

In June, his YouTube channel reached 1,00,000 subscribers that earned him a silver play button from YouTube.

Ankit focusses on promoting traditional wrestling workouts like sapate (Desi wrestling burpees), rope climbing, and running. The fitness influences trains in his village with his coach, Krishan Pahalwan.

Claim to Fame – 75-day Hard Challenge

He shot to fame on social media when he started the 75 Hard Challenge on June 27. The challenge was originally created by American entrepreneur and author Andy Frisella in 2020 and includes daily tasks like taking a selfie, sticking to a strict diet with no alcohol or cheat meals, drinking a gallon of water, reading 10 pages of a non-fiction book, and doing two 45-minute workouts, one of which must be outdoors, regardless of the weather conditions.

In an attempt to boost his mental toughness, Ankit took on this challenge in which failing to complete any of these tasks would mean restarting the challenge from Day 1.

Other Achievements of the Fitness Influencer

Baiyanpuria is the official athlete for Bull Nutrition Cafe in Gurugram and promotes MuscleBlaze products in his videos. In August 2023, there were rumours that he might appear in an episode of MTV Roadies.

Baiyanpuria also has a huge Instagram following, with about 5 million followers. He regularly shares his progress in the 75 Hard Challenge with his fans through Instagram reels.

After Baiyanpuriya joined PM Modi for the cleanliness drive on Sunday, Modi shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) and said, “Today, as the nation focuses on Swachhata, Ankit Baiyanpuriya and I did the same! Beyond just cleanliness, we blended fitness and well-being also into the mix. It is all about that Swachh and Swasth Bharat vibe”.

The video shows the PM Modi and Ankit Baiyanpuriya wielding brooms and cleaning and picking up trash and discussing their daily routines.

Besides PM Modi, several other BJP leaders, including Union ministers, took up cleanliness programmes in different parts of the country.

According to the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, more than 9.20 lakh sites across the country were adopted for the mega drive.
