Music emperor Swami Haridas Maharaj, the presenter of Thakur Shri Banke Bihari Ji Maharaj, the idol of all, came to Vrindavan on the day of Shri Radha Ashtami on 24 August in the year 1537. That is why the day of Swami Ji’s beginning of sadhana or his arrival day in Vrindavan is celebrated as the day of his arrival.

At the age of 25, he started living in Vrindavan
Historian Acharya Prahlad Ballabh Goswami, a sevayat of Shri Banke Bihari temple and founder president of Shri Haridas Bihari Foundation Bharat Trust, told that Swami Haridas Maharaj came to Vrindavan at the age of 25 on 24 August 1537 on the occasion of Radha Ashtami festival and started living there permanently. Ten years before this, in 1527 AD, Swami ji had gone on a pilgrimage after visiting Braj. According to tradition, Patotsav ceremony is organized on this day to commemorate the formal initiation of sadhana by Haridas ji on Radha Ashtami.
Swami Haridas Maharaj came to Vrindavan at the age of 25 on 24 August 1537 on the occasion of Radha Ashtami festival and started living there permanently.
Banke Bihari Ji was revealed through musical practice
Swami Haridas ji, who is known as the father of classical music, manifested Priya and Priyatam by practicing music while living among the creepers and leaves in the kingdom of Nidhivan. When Priya and Priyatam appeared from the ground, on the request of Swami Haridas ji, they both merged into each other and became Banke Bihari. Even today, Lord Banke Bihari, seated in the Banke Bihari temple, is two souls and one body.
Swami Haridas Ji lived among the creepers and leaves in the kingdom of Nidhivan and manifested his love and affection through music.
Akbar was also a follower of Swami Haridas
After seeing the music of Tansen, the courtier of Mughal emperor Akbar, Akbar once expressed his desire to listen to music from his guru. On the emperor’s order, Tansen reached Nidhivan to make Akbar meet Swami Haridas ji. He stopped him at the gate and went to Swami Haridas ji. On this, Swami Haridas ji said, bring the person who has been stopped at the gate. After which Tansen and Akbar sat down. During this, Tansen started singing a verse which he deliberately sang half way. After this, when Swami Haridas ji completed singing that verse, Akbar was mesmerized by listening to his voice.

Events being organized to commemorate the 437th Patotsav
According to historian Prahlad Ballabh Goswami, Braj Vrindavan has started to look like Shri Haridas even before the 487th Swami Haridas Patotsav being organized this time. Various kinds of literary, cultural, religious events being organized at various places in the city on the occasion of Patotsav have kept the Braj region full of joy. According to the sevayat, on the occasion of the 487th Patotsav celebration of Swami Haridas Maharaj to be held on September 11, Radha Ashtami, a special offering of chaab will be offered to the deity.

Chaav will be offered as a treat
Ghuhiya (colocasia), Guldane, Saklapada and salted apples are prepared in this special Chaab Badhai Bhog which is offered on the day of Radha Ashtami. These are prepared many days in advance. To participate in the 487th Patotsav celebrations of Haridas Maharaj, the devotee members of the Beri Bala family have reached Vrindavan as usual and have started helping in the festive preparations.

Banke Bihari ji will go to congratulate
On the birth anniversary of Swami Haridas Ji, the abhishek will be performed at Nidhivan Raj on Wednesday during the Brahma Muhurta. In the evening, a grand procession will be taken out from the Banke Bihari temple. The picture of Lord Banke Bihari Ji will be placed in this procession. It is believed that Lord Banke Bihari Ji goes to Nidhivan with pomp and show to congratulate Swami Haridas Ji.
