National Award winning filmmaker Prakash Jha has also been trying his hand at acting in recent years. After films like Saand Ki Aankh and Jai Gangajal, it is now Bari’s short film titled ‘Highway Nights’. Prakash Jha is in the role of a truck driver in this.
It is released on Prime Video. It was also selected in the ‘Live Action Short Film’ category of the Oscars last year. Prakash Jha has talked to Dainik Bhaskar on upcoming projects and some past topics.
Did you do any special preparation to play the role of a truck driver?
“Whatever work I enjoy, I do it with full dedication. Even if it is a journey from writing to music and acting. Here I am in the role of a truck driver.
For me as an actor, it is very important to know the process of getting into the skin of any character and what the director wants to say. Once upon a time, I used to drive a truck. I have also done the job of Khalasi. I know the life of a truck driver. I even had my own bus.”
After hit series like Aashram any other OTT platform approached?
“No. No one came to me. Amazon or Netflix didn’t come. Jio studio did come. One season of the series Sankalp has been completed. Post production is going on. I will start the feature film next. “

How many more seasons of Aashram will come?
“We have completed the shoot of one more season, however it could not be streamed. MX Player is currently having some issue. After all this, the date of the next season will come.”
Why was Bobby Deol chosen for the role of a religious leader?
“When we started looking for people for the role of Baba, Bobby Deol’s name came to my mind. We needed someone with an innocent face like Bobby. Bobby could bring credibility to that role. I talked to him. So they got ready right away.”

Would you like to say something on the relationship between cinema and society?
“I am busy in my work. Whether there has been a change or not, the media understands more. This is because the media looks at the all-round society. Otherwise, I am engrossed in my work. How can I keep making better cinema? I keep on
I am not a film academician. So I might not be able to discuss these changes with the authority. Of course cinema changes with the change of time. His language also changes.
