According to the police, four suspects are involved in Baba Siddqui’s killing. They did the recce of Siddiqui’s house for two months

The two suspects arrested in the killing of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai last night claimed that they belong to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Bollywood actor Salman Khan has also been receiving threats from the gang for the past few months.

The arrested shooters, Karnail Singh and Dharmaraj Kashyap who hail from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, fired six bullets at Siddiqui outside his son’s office in Kher Nagar around 9.30 pm on Saturday, of which two bullets hit the 66-year-old NCP leader’s chest, as per sources.

Police sources said four suspects are involved, who did the recce of Siddiqui’s house for two months before the killing. The police, who were deputed for the Dussehra celebrations, arrested the two shooters but the third one escaped. The police suspect the involvement of a fourth person who was providing information of Siddiqui’s location.

A 9.9 MM pistol was used in the firing, say sources. Police said Siddiqui had received death threats 15 days ago, after which his security was increased to Y category.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reached Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital late Saturday night to meet Siddiqui’s family. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, along with senior police officials, Union Minister and RPI (A) chief Ramdas Athawale and Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar also reached the hospital. Shinde has mentioned taking strict action against those who took the law into their own hands.
