The District Magistrate conducted a detailed review of the schemes of the Women Welfare Department in the Collectorate Auditorium of Ballia. During the review, District Probation Officer Mumtaz and the Superintendent of Government Girls Home, Nidharia were suspended for not providing the complete information about the achievements of the department.

The DM talked about immediate arrangements for medical examination of the victim women at the One Stop Centre and directed that the medical procedure be completed before sunset. He also ordered a random check of the Child Helpline Register to review the complaints received on the helpline number and asked to go to the field and monitor the resolution of complaints.
Instructions for keeping complete knowledge of work
During the review, the DM also objected to the mistakes in data and wording and talked about improvement in future. When the superintendent was unable to give correct information when questions were raised on the arrangements of the girls’ home, the DM instructed her to have complete knowledge of her work. He said that no data should be presented without seeing it and the correct use of the sufficient funds received from the government should be ensured. He also warned of strict action on receiving any complaint during the surprise inspection. During the review of the Kanya Sumangala Yojna, the DM directed to keep in constant touch with the SDM and BDO for disposal of pending applications.
8 children freed from child labour
While discussing child labour, the DM said that 16 children were freed from child labour in June and 8 in July. However, most of the children were found in small hotels. The DM talked about taking strict action against the hotel operators and directed that not only fines should be imposed but cases should also be registered. He also ordered to ensure admission of the freed children in schools. During this meeting, ADM DP Singh, BSA Manish Singh and other officials were also present.
