In the 15th match of the T20 World Cup 2024, Bangladesh defeated 2014 champion Sri Lanka by two wickets. This is Bangladesh’s first win against Sri Lanka in the T20 World Cup. Earlier, two matches were played, both of which were won by Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl first on Saturday at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. Sri Lanka, batting first, scored 124 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets and gave Bangladesh a target of 125 runs. In reply, Bangladesh achieved the target in 19 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Bangladesh spinner Rishad Hussain took three wickets. He was adjudged the Player of the Match.

  • Mustafizur Rahman : Apart from Rishad Hussain, Mustafizur Rahman also took three wickets in the match. Rahman took the wickets of Kamindu Mendis, Pathum Nissanka and Maheesh Theekshana. He put the team in trouble by dismissing Sri Lanka’s top scorer Nissanka (47).

He dismissed Charith Aslanka on the first ball of the over and Sri Lankan captain Wanindu Hasaranga on the second. After this, he sent Dhananjay de Silva to the pavilion on the first ball of the 17th over.
