Bangladesh created history in the first Test against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui. He defeated the Kiwi team by 8 wickets to register the first Test victory in 21 years against New Zealand. This is Bangladesh’s first win against New Zealand in all three formats.

Earlier, Bangladesh team had played 9 Tests, 16 ODIs and 7 T20 Internationals on New Zealand soil, but they had to face defeat in all these matches.

Bangladesh has become the first Asian team since 7 January 2011 to beat New Zealand on its soil. Earlier, Pakistan had defeated New Zealand at their home.

The Kiwi team has lost a Test match on their own soil after almost five years. New Zealand were defeated by South Africa on their soil before Bangladesh. This test match was played in March 2017. The African team won this match by 8 wickets.
