Bengaluru doctor shares how he helped a woman with seizures on Delhi-Toronto flight. ‘X’ post goes viral.
A middle-aged woman experienced seizures and disorientation during a Delhi-Toronto flight, but swift assistance from a Bengaluru-based doctor, as narrated in a viral social media post, averted a potential crisis. The doctor, Sundar Sankaran, shared the incident on the micro-blogging site ‘X,’ recounting how he and another doctor came to the aid of the passenger in distress aboard an Air India flight.
“On my way to Toronto from Delhiby @airindia…I along with a radiologist from Toronto Satheesh @SatheeshToronto were called to attend to a middle aged lady who had seizures and disorientation. Flight was yet to take off and fortunately vitals were stable and we could offload her with the help of local Medanta doctors,” wrote Sundar Sankaran. He praised the Air India crew for their cooperation, adding, “Thanks to security concerns the whole aircraft underwent security screening and clearance and flight delayed by an hour.”
Reflecting on his 45-year career, Dr. Sankaran shared that it was his third time being called for an emergency on a flight. He recalled the first incident on a Delhi to Bengaluru flight when an IAF officer experienced chest pain.

“I could give emergency care and the officer was taken immediately to command hospital airforce and was treated for acute MI. The chief of the Air Force sent me a thank you letter but what was touching was the letter of thanks from the wife and daughter of the IAF officer patient . For a young doctor who had just begun his career the letters meant a lot.”
