The Indian government is considering legalizing betting in cricket. This was stated by Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur at a program on Thursday. Former BCCI President Anurag said that due to betting legal, the government will also get revenue of thousands of crores of rupees.
Anurag said at an ICICI Securities Financial Conference – The proposal to league-betting has come through you people. It is league-leased worldwide, whether it is Australia or England or many other countries. If seen, it brings revenue of thousands of crores of rupees to the country, which is spent on sports and other sectors.
League-wise batting will be helpful in stopping fixing
He said – If the trend of match fixing problem is also seen, betting also gives information about it that if it is happening somewhere. Legalizing betting can be an effective way to prevent fixing. We should consider its possibilities. Betting takes place in a systemic manner and can be helpful in monitoring those involved in system fixing.
Betting League-Lies in 5 big cricketing nations
There are also 5 big cricket-playing countries where betting has been league-leased. These countries are Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka and New Zealand. In India, many questions have been raised about betting on companies like Dream-11, but on this the Supreme Court has given a clean chit to everyone. The court believes that mobile gaming is not betting. It has to be brainwashed, whereas in betting it is not. There is a small difference between betting and gaming.
