BJP UP Election Defeat Reasons Explained; Congress | Samajwadi Party | Understand BJP’s defeat in UP in 11 questions and answers: Why did the voters get angry with BJP, did Jayant not help, did Raja Bhaiya play a ‘game’ in Purvanchal… – Uttar Pradesh News

The result from UP has spoiled the equation of BJP in the country. BJP will not be able to form the government on its own. It will have to take the support of allies. What happened that BJP which had won a huge majority in the assembly 2 years ago, has become like this? SP-Congress win

,

Question-1: What were the reasons for BJP’s seats being reduced so much in UP?
answer-
3 factors worked for this…

First factor- contesting elections on Modi’s face: For the last 10 years, BJP has been fighting elections on the basis of just one face. Be it Lok Sabha elections or assembly elections. The public is fed up with this. Even the influential faces of UP were not given preference over Modi’s face, due to which they had to suffer losses.

Second factor- SP-Congress alliance in UP: India also got an edge due to the alliance of SP and Congress in UP. SP-Congress connected themselves with each other by holding coordination meetings in the districts and contested the elections together. SP workers took the Congress agenda to the ground level. Due to the Lok Sabha elections, the general public also preferred this alliance.

Factor 3 – Negative campaigning caused harm: The big leaders of BJP including PM Modi did only negative campaigning in the entire election. But, after 10 years, the public wanted an accountability from the government. The faces associated with the government did not have any new plans. They were only repeating the mistakes of the opposition. Apart from this, BJP fielded old candidates on more than 40 seats. There was anger among the general public against them. There was also internal opposition against these candidates, which affected the results.

Question-2: What happened two years after the landslide victory in the assembly elections that Bulldozer Baba’s image and strict law and order did not work?
answer-
The better law and order situation in UP has nothing to do with the Lok Sabha elections. This election is for electing MPs and Prime Ministers. As far as Yogi’s image as Bulldozer Baba is concerned, the common people have also understood this. They know that you may run bulldozers on some selected people or get them killed in encounters, but it will not affect the crimes that the common people of UP face every day. Even now incidents like loot, murder, snatching are happening. In the NCRB report also, UP is in the top-5 in almost every category. This is the reason why the law and order situation in UP did not affect the result.

Also, the narrative that was spread in the elections was that if BJP gets more than 400 seats, Yogi will be removed from his post. The opposition also capitalised on this. As a result, those who were Yogi supporters distanced themselves from BJP in the elections.

Question-3: What did Akhilesh and Rahul Gandhi do that they won so many seats?
answer-
Four reasons are being given for this also.

Focus on youth: There are 20.41 lakh new voters in UP. In such a situation, Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav gave priority to the youth in their agenda. Young faces were also given priority in the selection of candidates in the Indy alliance. In every rally, Akhilesh Yadav-Rahul Gandhi kept raising the issues of unemployment, jobs, Agniveer and paper leak till the end. So that most of the youth can connect.

Removed the tag of leader of Yadavs:Akhilesh Yadav also tried to remove the tag of a Yadav leader from himself by giving tickets to only 5 Yadavs of his family in entire UP.

Did not allow the accusation of Muslim appeasement: To avoid the allegations of Muslim appeasement, Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi fielded only 6 Muslim candidates in the whole of UP. The selection of candidates was also kept in mind according to the caste equation. While selecting candidates on many seats, it was kept in mind that the vote bank of their caste should also have an impact on the surrounding seats.

Distanced yourself from negative agenda: Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav kept a distance from negative campaigning throughout the election. They ignored the allegations leveled by the BJP. They stuck to their own agenda.

Question- 4: Did the Muslim vote fall one-sidedly, causing this loss to the BJP?
answer-
The Muslim vote fell one-sidedly because no matter how much BJP says ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’, it still has an anti-Muslim image. From the stage too, BJP leaders made many such statements about Muslims which united them. Also, this time Congress was in alliance with SP, so Muslims voted one-sidedly. In the 2019 elections, the SP-BSP alliance did not get the one-sided vote of Muslims.

Mukhtar’s death also had an impact on some areas of Purvanchal, due to which Muslims united. Action taken against Azam Khan’s entire family was also a part of this resentment. The anger can be gauged from the fact that despite BSP fielding Muslim candidates on 23 out of 80 seats, the Indy alliance got a one-sided vote of Muslims.

Question- 5: Could BJP not polarize Hindus including on the issue of Ram Mandir-Kashi Corridor?
answer-
Even after building Ram Mandir and Kashi Corridor, BJP could not attract Hindus. BJP fielded candidates again on 47 seats, which resulted in losses. Lallu Singh lost in Ayodhya, Modi’s victory margin in Varanasi decreased. Apart from this, Muslims came out of their homes in the name of their religion and voted unanimously for the Indy alliance. On the other hand, the polarization of Hindu votes did not happen in favor of BJP. On the other hand, Akhilesh Yadav’s social engineering worked. Now it can be said that the factor of Ram Mandir and Kashi did not work in UP.

Question- 6: Did Mayawati’s Dalit vote shift to the Indy alliance? Did the wrong statements on the Constitution cost BJP heavily?
answer-
Regarding the Constitution, Ayodhya MP Lallu Singh had given a statement that the government can be formed with 275 MPs, but to change the Constitution, more MPs will be needed. Only then can the Constitution be changed.

Akhilesh and Rahul Gandhi put this statement in front of everyone in such a way that if BJP crosses 400, then it can change the constitution. However, later Modi said for damage control- even if Baba Saheb Ambedkar himself comes down, the constitution cannot be changed. But damage control could not be done with this statement. This was the reason that Mayawati’s core voter, Dalits, got the message that if BJP comes to power this time, it can end reservation. This was the reason that Dalits and OBCs shifted to the Indi alliance instead of going to BJP.

Question- 7: Did free ration, Ujjwala scheme and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana not work?
answer-
During the Corona period, many people became unemployed on a large scale. For damage control, the facility of free ration was given. This scheme kept increasing every year. Ujjwala Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana also did not work. In the Ujjwala Yojana, the second gas cylinder had to be refilled by oneself, in the Awas Yojana also, only those who had a setting at the local level were getting housing. Whereas those who were unemployed now needed work. Here, Rahul Gandhi had announced to give 10 kg free ration in his manifesto. The effect of which was also seen.

Question- 8: How much did the caste equation work this time in UP? Did the anger of Thakurs harm the BJP?
answer-
Like every time, this time also caste equations worked in UP. For this, the Indy alliance made full preparations. BJP gave tickets to candidates as per its wish. Akhilesh gave the slogan of PDA and the same was seen in the selection of candidates. Akhilesh gave tickets to 5 Yadavs, 27 OBCs, 4 Brahmins, 2 Thakurs, 2 Vaishyas, 1 Khatri, 4 Muslims and 17 Dalits. In this way, this equation worked. Whereas BJP reduced the number of Thakur candidates by 50% in the last 10 years.

There are about 30 lakh Thakur voters in Purvanchal itself. In such a situation, the effect of Thakur’s displeasure was seen from West to Purvanchal. In Jaunpur, pressure politics was used on Dhananjay Singh to get his BSP ticket withdrawn. Even after he joined BJP, Thakur votes did not go to BJP. Ignoring Raja Bhaiya in Pratapgarh also harmed BJP. Due to which BJP had to suffer losses in Pratapgarh and Kaushambi seats.

Question- 9: Why did the alliance with Jayant Chaudhary’s RLD not work for the BJP?
answer-
In fact, just before the elections, Jayant Chaudhary turned his back and joined hands with the BJP. This sent a wrong message. The farmer leader Tikait family is a supporter of Jayant, but it has given a message to its workers to vote wherever they want. However, the farmer leaders also supported RLD in Baghpat and Bijnor seats. But, due to local politics, BJP could not get the support of RLD.

Question- 10: Congress has won Amethi and Rae Bareli seats, did Congress have a special strategy to save its stronghold?
answer-
At the time of nomination, Congress did not announce the ticket for Amethi and Rae Bareli till the last moment. Due to this, BJP was confused. At the last moment, Rahul Gandhi filed nomination from Rae Bareli and KL Sharma, a close aide of Gandhi family, contested from Amethi. Congress killed two birds with one stone. Firstly, it took away the identity of Smriti Irani that she is contesting against Rahul Gandhi. Second, Rahul contesting from Rae Bareli after Sonia created an emotional connect with the public. In Amethi, Smriti took KL Sharma lightly, for which she had to suffer the consequences.

Question- 11: Modi’s ministers also lost, was there anti-incumbency against them?
answer- This time in UP, apart from PM Modi, 11 Union Ministers were in the fray. These include Defence Minister Rajnath Singh from Lucknow, Mahendra Nath Pandey from Chandauli, SP Singh Baghel from Agra, Anupriya Patel from Mirzapur, Smriti Irani from Amethi, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti from Fatehpur, Ajay Mishra Teni from Kheri, Bhanu Pratap Verma from Jalaun, Kaushal Kishore from Mohanlalganj, Sanjeev Baliyan from Muzaffarnagar and Bhanu Pratap Verma from Jalaun. Out of these, Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, Anupriya Patel and SP Singh Baghel won the elections but the margin was less. While the other 7 ministers have lost the elections.
