BTS’ J-Hope will soon be completing his mandatory 18-month-long military service.
BTS member Jung Ho-Seok, also known as J-Hope, is set to be discharged from the military in a few days. The K-pop artist started his 18-month service in April 2023 and is expected to return on October 17. Leading up to his discharge, J-Hope has been teasing his fans about his return. On Monday, October 7, he shared an update on his Weverse account, showing a picture of his packed bag with the caption “D-10.”
The bag featured a South Korean flag, along with charms that read “Go J-Hope,” “You’re Our Hope,” a hot air balloon, and a man in a military uniform. His military boots were also visible in the photo, leaving fans happy for his return. Soon, the super-excited ARMYs took to the comment section of the post, shared on X (formerly Twitter), to express their sentiments on J-Hope’s military discharge. One fan wrote, “He’s coming! Our hope!.” Another one said, “Our sunshine is so ready to come home.”
On October 2, J-Hope posted on his Instagram account, raising anticipation of his return. He posted a series of pictures that included a sneak peek from an art exhibition, fun selfies and adorable pictures of his dog Mickey. The BTS member shared the pictures with a caption in Korean, which translates to: “It’s October. It’s made up of really pretty (even) pictures. I’ll see you on deployment day then. Enjoy it.”
In other news, a volunteer at a dog centre revealed that J-Hope has been supporting them for three years. Despite being in the military, the K-pop star hasn’t stopped lending his hand for help. According to a report by All Kpop, a volunteer disclosed, “We are always grateful to BTS’s J-Hope, who never forgets to send food for the dogs. Before Chuseok, J-Hope’s mother reached out to discuss donating food again, and we’re incredibly thankful for the consistent support. The shelter’s staff even said they feel wealthy every time the food arrives,” and also mentioned that his donations have improved the conditions of the centre.
Meanwhile, on the work front, J-Hope released his debut solo album, Jack in the Box, in 2022, followed by a documentary titled J-Hope in the Box, chronicling the making of his solo debut album and Lollapalooza performance. After his collaboration with American rapper J. Cole on his single On The Stree, the K-pop star released his highly anticipated solo comeback with Hope On The Street VOL. 1, released earlier this year.
