Mujeeb is an emotional film for me: Shyam
Director Shyam Benegal said that I really enjoyed working in this feature film. It was great fun working with the National Film Development Corporation of India and the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation. Mujeeb is a very emotional film for me. It was very difficult for me to bring the character of ‘Bangabandhu’ to reel life.

who was mujeeb
Mujib provided the political leadership for Bangladesh’s independence in 1971. Early in his political career, Mujib met Mahatma Gandhi, who was a great source of inspiration for him to empower the masses. The biopic is a celebration of the life of Mujeeb and takes us back to a time in history that viewers will see come alive again. The film depicts that great leader whose achievements are still alive today.

Mujib was born in a distinguished Muslim family and grew up in a religious and cordial environment. He was very kind to the poor and was sympathetic towards them. He fought against inequality and deprivation between West Pakistan and East Pakistan and against Pakistani military rule. He was also imprisoned for about 11 years in the period from 1947 to 1971. He tried to form an independent and sovereign nation “Bangladesh” and achieved his goal. Hence Mujib is considered as ‘Bangabandhu’ as the father of the nation of Bangladesh.
