Alcaraz wins third consecutive Grand Slam final

Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz won his first French Open title by defeating Alexander Zverev 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 in the French Open final on Sunday. This was his third Grand Slam title.

Alcaraz also won the clay court Grand Slam. Earlier, he won his last 2 Grand Slams on hard court at the US Open in 2022 and on grass court at Wimbledon in 2023. Alcaraz is now 3-0 in Grand Slam finals. He has won all the finals. On the other hand, Zverev lost the finals of both major title matches.

broke the record of Spanish legend Nadal
21-year-old Alcaraz broke the record of his compatriot tennis legend Rafael Nadal. Alcaraz has now surpassed Nadal to become the youngest player to win a Grand Slam on three surfaces (grass, hard, clay). When Nadal achieved this feat, he was about one and a half years older than Alcaraz.

First behind 2-1, then made a comeback
Alcaraz did not panic even after losing the third set and trailing two sets to one. He rallied in the fourth set as well and then maintained his momentum. Alcaraz hit 56 winning shots in the match that lasted four hours and 19 minutes at Court Philippe Chatrier. Alcaraz won the fourth set.

In the last set, Alcaraz first took a 4-0 lead and then won the French Open by winning the set easily 6-2.
