Indian weightlifters continue to dominate the Commonwealth Games. In Weightlifting, Vikas Thakur won Silver Medal in Men’s 96 Kg Category. As spectacular as the victory was, the celebration was memorable. Actually, after this stellar performance, Vikas celebrated in the style of Sidhu Musewala.
After the painful murder of Sidhu, Vikas wept bitterly. That’s why he paid tribute to this late singer in his own style. Vikas won the silver medal in the 96 kg category by lifting 346 kg. Earlier, he won silver in 86kg at Glasgow Games 2014 and then bronze in 94kg at Gold Coast Games in 2018.

Sidhu had sought votes in the name of environment
Sidhu Musewala’s heart beat for his village Musa. That is why they were not known by their name but by the name of the village. He used to ask people to go from village to village to seek votes. He had got a Congress ticket from Mansa, where he was pitted against Vijay Singla of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Surprisingly, he ran a very different campaign, far from any big promises. He made clean environment his election issue. During the campaign, he said, “We need to clean the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat.”
Sidhu had called the voters anti-national after losing the election
After losing to Vijay Singla, Sidhu created a ruckus against the voters, calling them anti-nationals. But he was a mousewala. Recently, when Vijay Singla was sacked from the Punjab cabinet on corruption charges, Sidhu addressed a press conference. This was his last press conference.
Sidhu Musewala was very disappointed with the defeat in the assembly elections.
Sidhu lived and died just a few kilometers away from his village. Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala recently sang a song implying that he would die at a young age.
