Former 47-year-old fast bowler Chaminda Vaas has done it, which many of today’s young cricketers fail to pass. The Sri Lankan cricketer completed the 2 km run fitness test in just 7 minutes 30 seconds. Whereas, its standard timing is 8 minutes 35 seconds.

Sri Lanka Cricket has implemented this new rule from this month. From now on, cricketers will have to prove their fitness for the national team and complete the 2 km run challenge. The Test will take place at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Vas appointed as bowling coach for tour of Windies
Chaminda Vaas has played 111 Tests and 322 ODIs for Sri Lanka in her career. He took 355 wickets and 400 wickets in Tests. He was one of Sri Lanka’s all-time fast bowlers. He was also appointed by the SLC as a bowling coach for the Windies tour. The Sri Lankan team will play 3 T20s, 3 ODIs and 2 Tests on the Windies tour starting on 4 March.

Four cricketers did not participate in 2 km run test
32 of the 36 cricketers participated in the Provincial squad for the Windies tour. Dhananjay De Silva, Kusal Mendis, Lahiru Thirimane and Avishka Fernando did not participate in this test. According to the SLC, if a player fails the 2 km run test, then he will have to go through this test again within 40 days.

SLC preparing players for T20 World Cup
SLC’s Physical Performance Manager Grant Luden said its main objective is to prepare the players for the T20 World Cup to be held in India in October. Earlier in January, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also set new scales for its players. According to them, now players will have to pass a 2-km running trial in addition to the yoyo test.

India also has a 2 km run challenge
In India, the fast bowlers will have to complete the two-kilometer run in 8 minutes, 15 seconds. At the same time, the batsmen and the wicketkeeper must complete this race in 8 minutes, 30 seconds. There is no change in the score to pass the yoyo test. It is the same as before 17.1.
