This is not the first time a line judge is being used. Tennis Australia has done this because of the Kovid-19, so that the number of employees on the court is small. This time, besides the players on the court, the chair umpire and the ball boy-ball girl are seen. The job of a line judge is to tell the player’s fault or mistake. Their job is to help the chair umpire. They tell the umpire to speak fast or raise his hand if there is a fault.
For this time, electronic line call is being used. Pre-recorded voice is being used for out, foot fault, mistake during matches. Live electronic line calling was implemented through remote tracking cameras around the court. In this, audio line calls are being sent in real time with the help of automatic cameras. Sensors and laser technology are being used for decisions related to the line. Cameras have been installed in different parts of the court. They send real-time photos and help the umpire in making decisions.
