BCCI has changed the schedule for the knock-out matches of the Ranji Trophy. The quarterfinal matches, which started on June 4, will now start from June 6. The final match will also be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium from June 22 instead of June 20.
On June 19, India-South Africa T20 match may be held in Chinnaswamy itself.
The BCCI has not clarified the reason for the change in the dates of the tournament. It is believed that the T20 match between India and South Africa is to be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 19 and the final match of the Ranji Trophy will also be played on this ground. In such a situation, due to the clash in dates, BCCI has decided to go ahead with the knockout matches.
BCCI has informed all the state teams about this. According to the new schedule, now the semi-final matches will also start from June 14 instead of June 12. All these matches will be played in different stadiums of Bangalore. Apart from the final match, the first semi-final and the third quarter-final match will be telecast live on TV.
The league stage matches of Ranji Trophy were played before the start of IPL. Teams from Bengal, Jharkhand, Mumbai, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh have qualified for the knockout stage of the tournament.
