Universities and colleges closed for 8 months in Uttar Pradesh will reopen from November 23. With an attendance of 50 per cent students, the UP government on Tuesday issued a guideline regarding the opening of universities and colleges. Universities and colleges in the state have been closed since March due to the corona virus epidemic. Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education Department Monica Garg has sent instructions to all the District Magistrates and Registrars of Universities.

At the same time, the Basic Education Department has prepared the guidelines to open schools up to 8th. Consultation has been sought by sending a proposal to the Union Home Department. Now just waiting for the order.

Studying with 50% present, wearing masks will be mandatory

  • According to the guidelines, universities and colleges have to have thermal scanning and hand wash for students and staff.
  • Educational institutions can also tie up with NGOs working in a nearby hospital and health sector to fight Kovid-19.
  • Classes can be started with the presence of 50 percent students. All students must wear masks. Guidelines related to social distancing have to be followed on campus and in classrooms. Hand sanitizer will have to be used.
  • The Vice Chancellor and the Principals have been asked to follow SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) to run the institutions.
  • All students have to download the Arogya Setu App.

Social distancing should be followed: Guidelines have advised parents to ensure that their children follow health protocols whenever they leave the home. If their child is not healthy, do not let them out of the house.

Only educational institutions that will be outside the Containment Zone

  • Students, teachers and staff residing in the Containment Zone will not enter the Institute.
  • In classes, students will not share books, laptops, notes among themselves.
  • It is mandatory to have a distance of six feet between two students.
  • Universities will be allowed to open hostels with health protocols. Students with corona symptoms will not be allowed to stay in hostels. Avoid the dining table and eat in small groups. Wear a mask while going to the common area. Swimming pools will remain closed.
  • Students, teachers and staff should be told about the surrender webpage to deal with stress and maintain mental health.
  • Care should be taken to ensure that there is no rush at the entrance and exit of students at the institute gate.

Preparations to open schools till 8th

At the same time, the Department of Basic Education has sought opinion from the Department of Health and Home to open primary and junior high schools in the state. In this regard, the department has prepared a class-wise guideline to be adopted for the operation of schools from class one to 8th, in accordance with the guidelines of the Union Home Ministry. Consultation on proposal for opening of schools has been sought. Now just waiting for the order.
