Up until today, COVID-19 has not been confirmed as an airborne disease. However, many scientists in the past have suggested the possibility of airborne transmission of the virus. While WHO has confirmed that airborne transmission of the virus can occur during medical procedures that generate aerosols, whether the virus can be spread through aerosols in other places is still under speculation.
According to a recent report released by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), COVID-19 could be airborne. However, it backtracked on the same and said that it had been “posted in error”.
As per a study published in journal Physics of Fluids, coronavirus transmission in confined spaces can have its own health risks, however, the chances of catching Covid-19 from aerosols are minimal. Although the chances are slim, it’s always better to stay on guard and protect yourself from any possible infection.
