Candidates who failed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination (NEET) can now also seek admission to become medical and डॉक्टरBDSs. According to a decision of the Supreme Court, now even the candidates who have failed in NEET can take admission in the Medical BDS course. Actually, the court has decided this due to the vacancy of BDS seats in many medical colleges.
7000 vacant BDS seats in the country
In 2016, the Supreme Court had decided that those candidates who bring above 50 per cent number in the NEET, will get admission in MBBS and BDS only. If less than 50 percentile, the candidate will not get medical admission under any quota. But to fill the vacant 7000 vacant seats of BDS, now the Supreme Court has given a new decision on this, under which the failed students will also be able to take admission in BDS.
NEET 2020 took place on 13 September
NEET 2020 was held on 13 September 2020 for admission to the first year of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). The Dental Council of India had recommended reducing the qualifying cutoff percentage for admission to BDS syllabus for the academic year 2020-2021. Candidates who did not score minimum marks as prescribed by Dental Council of India had approached the Supreme Court, on which the court decided.
