The union home ministry stepped in to ensure that supply of liquid medical oxygen remained unhindered. The Centre is also prepared to rework some of the allocation over the next few days to meet the rising demand from Covid-19 patients. The home ministry has urged states not to block supplies as states with oxygen producing facilities have been reluctant to let go of supplies, fearing that they may face shortages. What has complicated matters is the higher demand from states, supply bottlenecks and the lack of cryogenic tankers.
