1. Abdul Fatal Al Sisi becomes President of Egypt: On 2 April, Abdul Fatah al-Sisi was sworn in as President of Egypt for the third consecutive term in Cairo. Abdul Fatah has been in power for the last 10 years and has now started his third term.
Abdul Fatah Al Sisi won the presidential election by securing 89.6% of the votes.
- Before this, he had also been the Chief of the Egyptian Army and Defense Minister.
- He ousted President Mohammed Morsi from power in 2013 despite nationwide protests.
- According to the Egyptian Constitution, the new six-year term is his last term.
- Abdul Fattah was born in 1954 in the Gamaleya area of Cairo.

2. Shefali Sharan becomes DG of PIB: Shefali B on 1st April. Sharan assumed the charge of Principal Director General of Press Information Bureau (PIB). Shefali has been appointed in place of Manish Desai.

3. India's defense budget Rs 21,083 crore: On April 1, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh posted on social media that India's defense budget has crossed Rs 21 thousand crore for the first time. There has been an increase of 32.5% this year compared to the financial year 2022-23.

4. 'One vehicle, one Fastag' rule implemented: The 'one vehicle, one Fastag' rule of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has come into effect from April 1. This has been implemented to prevent the use of the same Fastag for multiple vehicles or the use of multiple Fastags from the same vehicle.
- According to the new rule, now more than one Fastag cannot be installed on one vehicle.
- Fastag is an electronic service of toll collection in India, which is operated by NHAI.
- Fastag is installed on about 98% of the vehicles in the country, which has more than 8 crore users.
- Fastag uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for toll payment.
- Fastag scheme was started in the country in 2014.
5. Two products from Tripura got GI tag: On March 31, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to inform about two products from Tripura getting Geographical Indication (GI) tag. These products are Matabari Pera Prasad and Rignai Pachara Cloth.

- Matabari Pera Prasad is a sweet prasad served at the famous Tripureshwari temple in Tripura.
- Made from milk and sugar, this dish is famous for its distinct taste and deep cultural traditions.
- Due to the increasing demand for this tree, local people have started marketing it across the world.
- Rignai Pachara is a traditional hand-woven fabric.
- The artisans make it with great precision with the help of indigenous equipment and techniques.
- This cloth holds cultural significance in Tripura.
