1. Fighter aircraft made in India flew for the first time: On March 28, the first fighter aircraft LA5033 of the LCA Tejas Mark-1A series being manufactured in India flew for the first time. The plane remained in the air for 15 minutes after taking off from the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) facility in Bengaluru.
- HAL Chief Test Pilot (Fixed Wing) Group Captain (Retd) KK Venugopal flew the LA5033 aircraft.
- LCA Tejas March-1A aircraft is an advanced version of LCA Mk-1.
- It has already been included in the Indian Air Force.
- It has been developed by Bengaluru-based DRDO Lab Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA).
- Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is manufacturing the aircraft.
- HAL had received a contract worth Rs 46,898 crore in 2021 to manufacture 83 Tejas Mark-1A for the Indian Air Force.
- The company has time to deliver 83 aircraft from March 2024-February 2028.

2. Ritu Raj Awasthi becomes Lokpal judicial member: On March 27, Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi took oath as a judicial member of the Lokpal. The Lokpal of India is headed by Justice A.M. Khanvilkar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Awasthi.
Justice Awasthi became the Chairman of the 22nd Law Commission in 2022.
- After a tenure of 17 months, he submitted his resignation to the Ministry of Law and Justice.
- He obtained his graduation degree in Law from Lucknow University in 1986.
- Became Additional Judge of Allahabad High Court in 2009.
- In 2010, Awasthi took oath as a judge.
- On 11 October 2021, he was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.

3. Haryana topped in sub junior boxing: The final of the Boxing Sub Junior National Championship 2024 was held on March 27 at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, Noida. In this, Haryana state has won the championship with the highest medal score of 19.
All male and female boxers of Haryana.
- Haryana won a total of 9 medals in the men's category with 6 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.
- Haryana won 7 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals in the women's category.
- Delhi stood second in this list with 8 medals.
- Maharashtra state stood third with 6 medals.
- Uday Singh defeated S. of Tamil Nadu in 37 kg category. Haryana established its dominance with a 5-0 win against Sujit.
- 612 boxers took part in this tournament, which included 337 men and 275 women.

4. Tata and HP deal for EV charging station: On March 27, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited (TPEM) signed a deal with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to expand electric vehicles (EV) charging infrastructure in India.
Balaje Rajan (left), Chief Strategy Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said, 'As EV purchases are increasing in the country, increasing charging station infrastructure will help in bringing EVs into the mainstream in India.
- Both the companies together will build EV charging stations at more than 21000 fuel stations (petrol pumps) of HP located in major locations of the country.
- This will directly benefit 1.2 lakh Tata EV customers.
- Both companies are also working with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) for convenient payments at charging stations.
- Tata has 68% share in India's EV market.
- HPCL is working on the target of installing 5,000 EV charging stations by December 2024.
- Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited is the market leader in the electric passenger vehicle segment with over 68% share.

5. Saudi Arabia for the first time in Miss Universe contest: On the night of March 25, Saudi Arabian model Rumi Alqahtani announced her participation in the Miss Universe contest on her social media account. This is the first time that Saudi Arabia is sending contestants from its country to Miss Universe.
Rumi wrote on social media – It is a matter of pride for me that I am going to participate in Miss University 2024. It is a pleasure to be the first Saudi woman to participate in the Miss Universe competition.
- 27 year old model Room Alqahtani is a resident of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
- Apart from being a model, she is also a social media influencer.
- Rumi has previously won beauty pageants like Miss Saudi Arabia, Miss Middle East, Miss Arab World Peace and Miss Woman (Saudi Arabia).
- The Miss Universe beauty pageant was first held in 1952, in which girls from Arab countries like Lebanon and Bahrain have been participating in beauty contests.
- In the Miss Universe competition, swimming costumes are not required to be worn, whereas in its competitor, the Miss World event, the swimwear event is considered special.

History of March 28: On this day in 2015, Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal defeated China's dominance in badminton and became the world number-1 player.
