Boxer Lovlina Borgohain, who won bronze at the Tokyo Olympic Games, has once again raised the country’s honor. She has been elected as the head of the athletes committee of IBA (International Boxing Association). IBA said that Lovlina has got the most votes.

Voting was held for the head of the Athletes Committee and the Board of Directors during the Women’s World Championships held recently. Apart from him, Shiv Thapa has also been elected in the Athletes’ Committee. His election took place during the 2021 Men’s World Championships.
Both of them are training under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme at the Sports Authority of India. Both of them have confirmed that they have accepted their respective roles. Now both of them are ready to represent Indian and other boxers in the next Board of Directors meeting.

After the selection, Lovlina said, ‘I am honored. I had hoped to become a committee member, but I had no idea that I would become the chairman. This will help me in promoting Indian boxing, especially women’s boxing. He said that this is a big opportunity for me to promote boxing. First of all, I have decided to consult the board of members and the boxers of the world.

Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has congratulated him on this achievement. Thakur said, ‘It is a big responsibility. I hope both of you do your duty well.

Chairperson of Mary Kom Veterans Committee
Veteran boxer Mary Kom is the chair of the IBA’s Champions and Veterans Committee. He was appointed the chairman of this committee last year. The committee comprises some of the most respected boxing legends and champions from around the world who have achieved significant achievements.
