The world’s largest cricket stadium is going to open in Ahmedabad. The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Cricket Stadium in Motera will be inaugurated with the next cricket series against England. The stadium will feature 2 Tests and five T20 matches against England. For this, the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) has started preparations. However, the BCCI has not yet released the schedule.
England’s tour of India will start from 7 February
Sources in the GCA have said that the first test will begin on February 7. At the same time, the third Test match starting from 24 February will be played at the new stadium in Ahmedabad. This test match will be day-night. Whereas, the fourth Test will also be played at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Cricket Stadium. Along with this all 5 T20s against England will also be played in this stadium.
England team will visit India in February
The series will feature 4 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20s. Motera’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Cricket Stadium has a seating capacity of one lakh 10 thousand spectators.
England team to visit Sri Lanka before India tour
The England team will tour Sri Lanka in January next year. England will play 2 Test matches on this tour. All these matches will be played at Galle Stadium without spectators. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) gave this information on Wednesday. The tour was scheduled to take place in March but was postponed due to the Kovid-19 after warm-up matches. It has now been rescheduled. This series will be part of the ICC Test Championship.
Series of 5 T20 matches to prepare for World Cup
Earlier, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had said that England will play a series of 5 T20, 3 One-Day and 4 Test matches against India on their tour. Ganguly said, ‘T20 World Cup will also be played in India next year. In such a situation, Kohli and his team will get full opportunity to prepare through a 5-match T20 series against a team like England.
