As soon as Cillian Murphy won the Oscars, Indian TV stars like Dheeraj Dhoopar, Karan Tacker and Gurmeet Chaudhary shared their well wishes to the Hollywood star for his historic achievement.
The 96th Academy Awards was filled with glamour and unforgettable performances. While some winners were surprised and others delighted, the spotlight was shining brightly on Cillian Murphy, who took home the Best Actor Oscars for his performance in Oppenheimer. This victory was a special moment for Murphy, as it was his first Oscar win in his two-decade-long career.
The actor played the titular role in Christopher Nolan’s movie, a biopic about J Robert Oppenheimer’s life. Meanwhile, as soon as Brendan Fraser announced the winner, social media buzzed with excitement as fans and celebrities, including Indian TV stars like Dheeraj Dhoopar, Karan Tacker and Gurmeet Chaudhary, shared their good wishes to the Hollywood star for his historic achievement.
Dheeraj and Karan opted for a simple approach, as the two television stars simply reshared posts about Murphy’s victory on their Instagram stories. On the other hand, the Ramayan star went the extra mile by writing a note for the film, specially dedicated to Murphy for his first Oscars win. Gurmeet wrote, “OH BOY I was screaming when Oppenheimer won at the Oscars. Ecstatic beyond words. Cillian Murphy just won the Oscar for Best Actor for his outstanding performance in Oppenheimer. He’s always been my favourite actor, and tonight, he truly shined.”
Meanwhile, Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy received a thunderous response from the audience members for his acceptance speech. He said, “I’m a little overwhelmed. thank you to the academy, Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas, it’s been the wildest, most exhilarating, most creatively satisfying journey you’ve taken me on over the last 20 years, I owe you more than I can say. Thank you so much. Every single crew member, every single cast member on Oppenheimer, you guys carried me through. All my fellow nominees, I remain in awe of you guys. Truly.”
“I want to thank my incredible team. I’m a very proud Irishman standing here tonight. You know, we made a film about the man who created the atomic bomb and for better or for worse, we’re all living in Oppenheimer’s world. So, I would like to dedicate this to the peacemakers everywhere,” he concluded.
Apart from Cillian Murphy’s well-deserved Best Actor win at The Academy Awards, Robert Downey Jr won the Supporting Role award and Christopher Nolan received the Best Director honours. Oppenheimer also took awards in four additional categories, including Film Editing, Cinematography, Original Score and the top prize, Best Picture.
