Dhoni did not help Jadeja after 2 matches: Said- did not want the world to call him spoon-feeding captain, expressed hope of return

After all, the secret of why Ravindra Jadeja left the captaincy in the middle of the season has been exposed. CSK’s new captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has said that Jadeja’s game was affected while fulfilling the captaincy requirements. As a result, he could not perform well for the team.

Ravindra Jadeja was appointed captain a day before the start of this season but this all-rounder could not contribute for the team under captaincy pressure. Returning to captaincy, Dhoni delivered quick results and Chennai won the match by 13 runs against Sunrisers.

Dhoni took decisions in place of Jadeja in the first two matches
Dhoni said that Jadeja knew that he was going to captain this year. In the first two matches, Dhoni gave necessary advice to Ravindra Jadeja and helped in the field setting. After this, according to Mahi, he flatly refused to assist Jadeja in the captaincy. He explained that the change in captaincy was a continuous process.

Mahi says Jadeja got a lot of time to prepare as captain and I wanted him to lead the team completely. At the end of the season, Dhoni did not want to make Jadeja feel as if Jaddu has been given the captaincy only to toss, the rest is being decided by someone else.

Captain responsible for on-field decisions: Dhoni
Overall, it was a process of gradual change, says Dhoni. Spoon-feeding doesn’t help a captain. On the field, you have to take the necessary decisions on your own and later the responsibility of the decision is also on you. Once you become the captain, you have to take care of your game along with all the other responsibilities.

Dhoni hopes to return to Jadeja’s form
If Jadeja is able to give his best, freed from the pressure of captaincy, then we need the same. We were losing an amazing fielder along with the all-rounder. The team was struggling continuously in the fielding at deep midwicket. Losing 17-18 catches this season is a matter of concern. It’s a tough phase for us, but we expect Jadeja to make a comeback.

Mahi praised the spinners
Talking about the match, Dhoni said that we had put a defendable total on the score board. I didn’t do anything different under my captaincy. Not that much has changed since the arrival of the new captain. In the second innings, the dew causes problems for the bowlers and hence we needed to get better. Our spinners bowled well between the 7th over and the 14th over and left a lot of runs for the bowlers in the end.
