Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga said on Animal: 'Only 15-20 jokers think that Ranbir's character hates women'

While on one hand director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is being praised for the film Animal, on the other hand many people are also criticizing him. Many people have described Ranbir Kapoor starrer 'Animal' as a misogynist and extremely violent film.

My characters are not misogynists: Sandeep
Meanwhile, in an interview given to Galata Plus, Sandeep said that his popular film characters like Rannvijay, Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy are not misogynists (haters of women). Only some 15-20 jokers feel that their characters are bad.

Sandeep has also defended his character 'Kabir Singh' in this interview.

'The name of my production house is Bhadrakali Pictures'
When Sandeep was asked whether he considered his character Ranvijay a misogynist? So he said- 'Misogyny women should not be respected. This is its correct definition, isn't it? Be it Kabir Singh, animals or myself.

I always feel that the name of my production house is Bhadrakali Pictures and I don't understand why people feel like this. And not many, but only 15-20 jokers think so. But this word does not fit Kabir Singh and Animal.

Bobby Deol has played the role of villain in the film Animal.

Only Bobby was imagined opposite Ranbir: Sandeep
In an interview given to FM Canada, Vanga talked about the character of Bobby Deol in the film. Vanga said, “I had it in my mind right from the beginning that the hero and the villain of my film would fight with their shirts off on the runway. So when I imagined someone opposite Ranbir, I could only see Bobby Deol's face.

'Knew people would wait for Bobby'
In the interview, Vanga further said- 'I did not want a routine entry of the villain in my film. After the release of the teaser and trailer, everyone knew that Bobby Deol is the villain in the film and I knew that people would wait for him in the film. So the tension starts 15 minutes after the start of the film but the villain is nowhere to be seen for about 2 hours.

I introduced the villain as the groom: Sandeep
I made people wait for about half an hour even after the interval. Then I introduced him as the groom. I wanted to show that when Rannvijay is in the low phase of his life, the villain of the film is enjoying and is going to marry for the third time.

Apart from Ranbir and Bobby, actors like Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Trupti Dimri and Shakti Kapoor have also been seen in Animal. The world wide collection of the film has crossed Rs 800 crore and the domestic collection has crossed Rs 500 crore.
