TB i.e. Tuberculosis is not only taking adults but also children in its grip. In Prayagraj, 344 children under the age of 15 have been found with TB. All the patients are undergoing treatment. Most cases of pulmonary TB have been found in these children, while there are patients with TB (extrapulmonary TB) associated with other parts of the body (nodules in the throat or lumps in other parts of the body). District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. AK Tiwari says that due to lack of awareness among the family members, cases of TB among children have increased. To diagnose TB, it is important to get its proper diagnosis. If the child has a lump in the throat or a lump in any part of the body, then it can be a factor of TB.

Irritability in children also symptoms of TB

If a child has a persistent cough, fever for more than two weeks and the child is becoming irritable with lethargy, does not gain weight with age or has lumps and nodules in any part of the body, then it can be a symptom of TB. Huh. This is to say of District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. AK Tiwari. A total of 8702 TB patients are being treated in the district. In the last three months, 55 children have become healthy after getting complete treatment for TB.

Dr. Tiwari told that TB ie Tuberculosis is an infectious disease. It spreads from one person to another. A single cough from a TB patient can infect up to 3500 airborne bacteria that can infect a person standing at a distance of six feet. There is a general belief in the society that TB occurs only in older people, but it is not so. Children have low immunity, due to which malnourished children as well as healthy looking children can also get infected with TB. TB is not curable but it can be fatal if left untreated.

Doctor said – six months treatment is necessary

Under the National Tuberculosis Eradication Program, free examination and treatment facilities are available in all government hospitals and health centers. It is very important for TB patients to take a 6-month course. Get the complete treatment as prescribed by the doctor, do not forget to leave the medicine in the middle. Doing so can worsen TB. If the medicine is left in between, the effect of the medicine ends. The patient has an increased chance of getting MDR TB.
