A contract worker lost his life on Wednesday night due to the negligence of the employees posted at the electricity sub-centre in Payagpur area of Bahraich. Angry with the death of the contract worker, the villagers reached the sub-centre and beat up an employee present there and blocked the road for hours.

Hanuman Yadav, a resident of Majra Sukai Purva of Gram Panchayat Hatwa Gopal of Payagpur Vikas Khand police station area, was a contract worker in the electricity department. The fuse of the transformer located in Dariyavpur of Gram Panchayat Rajwapur of the area blew at 11 pm on Wednesday night. On receiving the information, contract worker Hanuman Yadav took a shutdown. After this, he climbed the transformer to connect the fuse. During this time, some employee from Payagpur Power House started the power supply. Due to which Hanuman died on the spot due to electric shock. When the people of his village came to know about the death of the contract worker, angry villagers reached in large numbers and beat up an employee named Brijraj posted at the sub-center. Payagpur police reached on the information of the ruckus and sent the injured employee to the hospital.
On the assurance of the officials, the villagers ended the ruckus at 1 o’clock in the night
Angry villagers blocked the Bahraich Gonda road with sticks. Payagpur police station in-charge Kamal Shankar reached the spot with police force. After the Circle Officer and the Sub-Engineer of the Electricity Department assured the family of the deceased of financial assistance and action against the guilty employee, the villagers removed the blockade at one o’clock late night.
