Safai Karamcharis in Ayodhya went on indefinite strike on Monday. Safai Karamcharis have been on strike for three days for an eight-point demand. The sanitation workers gheraoed the circuit house and demonstrated. At the same time, due to lack of cleanliness in the municipal area for three days, garbage started collecting everywhere.

A delegation of employees on Monday met Dhirendra Singh Valmiki, a member of the Uttar Pradesh Monitoring Committee, reached the Circuit House, where he was stopped at the Circuit House gate. After this, hundreds of employees gathered outside the circuit house and started protesting.

indefinite strike announced

The sanitation workers got angry after not meeting the monitoring member. After this, after consulting the employees, they announced an indefinite dharna. Significantly, 2900 sanitation workers are working on contract in Ayodhya. All the employees are on strike for eight demands including increase in salary, 30 days salary, weekly leave.

Main demands of sanitation workers

  • Salary of each month, given in the account between 5th to 10th of the month.
  • Five thousand rupees should be increased in salary on the lines of Kanpur Municipal Corporation.
  • Instead of 26 days in a month, 30 days salary should be given.
  • Four weekly holidays should be given in a month.
  • Working hours should be fixed.
  • Additional bonus should be given to the employees for doing extra work.
  • All information related to PF deduction should be provided to the employees.
  • Health related facilities should be made available to the employees free of cost.
