Uttar Pradesh Excise Minister of State (Independent Charge) Nitin Agarwal held a review meeting with departmental officials on Tuesday and said that people should not consume liquor in the open at those liquor shops where there is no license to serve liquor sitting in front of the shops.

During the departmental review, Nitin Agarwal instructed the officials and said that liquor should not be served to people below 21 years of age in bars and clubs. For this, continuous checking should be done. And it should also be ensured that bars should not be opened after the time limit. Enforcement action should also continue in case of violation of rules.

Target set at Rs 58,310 crore

Nitin Agrawal said that in the current financial year, the target of revenue collection is Rs. 58,310 crore, against which only Rs. 11,783.76 crore revenue has been received till June. He praised the officers of Ayodhya, Mirzapur and Prayagraj charge among the districts who received revenue till June and gave a strict warning to the officers of Gorakhpur, Jhansi and Banda charge who received the minimum revenue, saying that any kind of laxity in revenue collection will not be tolerated.

The Excise Minister said that under no circumstances illegal liquor should be allowed to enter the state from outside. Strict action should be taken against shopkeepers doing over-rating. If over-rating is found, an FIR should be registered against the shopkeeper and the licence of the shop should also be cancelled. Along with this, it should also be ensured that country liquor is available to consumers only in tetra packs. Under no circumstances should there be any complaint of adulteration. The Excise Minister also directed to ensure 100% sale of liquor by operating POS machines at all shops and scanning through the machine.
