The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment And Promotion Board has ordered an investigation into the case of paper leaks report of February 17 and 18.
The Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment Exam took place on February 17 and 18, with a staggering 48 lakh aspirants vying for just 67,000 positions. Reports emerged of exam paper leaks and instances of impersonation, triggering demands from students for a rescheduling of the exam. In this situation, a video of CM Yogi Adityanath began circulating on social media, where he purportedly calls for the cancellation of the entire paper, arrests of those involved and a transparent re-examination within a month, assuring free travel arrangements for all students. It was later revealed that the video, released in 2021, pertained to the UPTET exam (Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test) and not the police recruitment exam.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the alleged paper leaks on February 17 and 18. They issued a statement confirming their preliminary findings, indicating that miscreants exploited Telegram’s edit feature to disseminate false claims of paper leaks for fraudulent purposes. UPPRPB assured the public that they, along with UP Police, are actively monitoring these cases and conducting a thorough probe. They emphasised that the ongoing examination process is being conducted securely and without disruption.
Additionally, an article published in The Wire detailed the individuals arrested by the police in connection with exam manipulation. Notable arrests include Monu Gurjar, an Indian Navy deserter from Shamli, accused of attempting to manipulate the exam. Anjani Kumar, a station master at the Singhiyaghat railway station in Bihar, was also apprehended for allegedly participating as a ‘solver’ instead of a candidate from Gorakhpur. Moreover, an exam invigilator in Basti was reportedly caught tutoring candidates, while a former pradhan in Ghazipur district was implicated as part of a manipulative group.
The developments show the gravity of the situation surrounding the UP Police Constable Recruitment Exam and highlight the urgent need for a transparent and fair resolution to restore public trust in the examination process.
