In Varanasi’s Sarnath police station, a woman has filed a case against her husband for marrying her fakely and then leaving her. Her husband has absconded after switching off his phone and the address of his in-laws is locked. Now even his close ones have denied having any information. The woman, a resident of Museum in Sarnath police station area, had chosen a match for marriage from a matrimonial site two months ago. Both of them first talked online and then met at a restaurant in Varanasi. When she grew closer to Vivek, a resident of Sultanpur, they fell in love. The conversation progressed and marriage was finalised.

Vivek had posted his biodata on a matrimonial site in which he described himself as a professor in a private college. On 18 May 2024, they got married in a Dharamshala according to Hindu customs and then both of them stayed together in Varanasi for a few days.

Vivek went to Jharkhand on the pretext of college

After a week, Vivek went to Jharkhand on the pretext of going to college and returned to Banaras in the last week of June the next month. Both of them spent two days in the Sarnath residence and lived together like husband and wife. On the third day, when Vivek left her and started going to Jharkhand again, the woman expressed her displeasure.

He forced her to take him along with her and a dispute also took place between the two. After this, husband Vivek broke his silence on the whole matter and called the marriage a drama. According to the victim, he told her to forget the relationship till now and go away.

Vivek left Banaras and also switched off his phone. After waiting and trying for several days, the woman reported the incident to Sarnath police after which a case was registered against Vivek, son of Chandrabali, a resident of Sultanpur.
