Farmers protested against two toll plazas built within a radius of 20 km on the Varanasi-Shaktinagar road passing through Mirzapur. The Bharatiya Kisan Union called the panchayat on Monday and demanded the removal of the second toll plaza. A large number of local people and farmers gathered in the panchayat. Actually, Varanasi-Shaktinagar route originates through Narayanpur. Two toll plazas have been set up on this route within a radius of 20 km.
Under the leadership of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, a panchayat of farmers and local people was held near the forest of Ahraura. In which the farmers demanded the removal of the toll plaza established in Ahraura. He reached the spot and placed a demand for removal of toll plaza in front of the Deputy District Magistrate and District Magistrate of Chunar. Farmers say that there is a toll plaza near Fattepur on the Varanasi-Shaktinagar road. It is wrong to set up another toll plaza at Ahraura, just 16 km away from this.
Toll plaza is built against the standard
Local people and farmers will have to pay toll at both the plazas. Whereas, according to the UP State Highway Authority, toll plazas can be established only at a distance of 50 km. Farmers say that under both the toll plazas there are farmers’ fields and tourist places. Where people come and go. People are facing problems with toll plazas.
SDM gave assurance
State Secretary of Bhartiya Kisan Union Prahlad Singh said that the Panchayat of our people was near the Vanasthali Vidyalaya of Ahraura. One toll plaza is in Fattepur and the other is in Ahraura. Which is causing trouble. The officials have assured the facility. On the other hand, Deputy District Magistrate Chunar assured the farmers that soon the problem would be resolved. He also said that people living within 20 km radius of the toll plaza will be given exemption.
