The Agriculture Minister inaugurated the Kisan Mela at CIMAP on Tuesday by cutting the ribbon.

Kisan Mela was organized today at CIMAP i.e. Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants under CSIR’s ‘One Week One Laboratory’ program. During this the chief guest of the fair was Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi besides Director of Council of Science and Technology Anil Kumar Yadav. And CM Advisor Dr. GN Singh was present.

On this occasion, Director of CIMAP, Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi told that under the Aroma Mission, tips were given for cultivation of lemongrass and mint in 30 thousand hectares of land.

On this occasion, Director of CIMAP, Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi said that under the Aroma Mission of CSIR, specially discussed CIMAP CIMAP in lemongrass and mint for the cultivation of aromatic plants in 30 thousand hectares of land.

During this, the Director of CIMAP urged the State Government to start the State Fragrance Mission. He also said that medicinal and aromatic plants have wide scope for cultivation and fanning to achieve trillion dollar economy.

Getting help from CSIR

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. GN Singh said that the UP government has taken several initiatives to improve the income of farmers in collaboration with CSIR laboratories. He said that CIMAP being the nodal lab for implementing CSIR technologies in Uttar Pradesh would be of great help.

QR-code also released

During this Kisan Mela souvenir Aus Gyanya was released, UV protection herbal product Sim-Kayakwach, agriculture technical handbook of alternative cultivation of Mentha and QR-code for information on advanced varieties and techniques developed by CIMAP were released.

Income will increase from medicinal and aromatic plants

Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi appreciated the efforts being made by CIMAP towards the economic upliftment of the farmer by developing new varieties of ounce species, value addition and processing facilities. Informed about the efforts of the Uttar Pradesh government in making the state self-reliant. He stressed on the inclusion of medicinal and aromatic crops along with traditional crops to increase the income of the farmer.

Farmers from these states

About 3000 farmers and industry representatives from different states of the country like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, West Bengal, Haryana, Assam Mount Abu, Manipur, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttarakhand participated in the Kisan Mela .

Market information of medicinal and aromatic plants, sale of improved plant material and publications, display of improved varieties and CIMAP products, live demonstration of distillation units processing. Products and technologies developed by various CSIR-CIMAP laboratories, industries and CIMAP beneficiary farmers were displayed and distributed.

This year, the farmers who came to the Kisan Mela were provided with high quality seeds and planting materials of important crops, mainly mentha, kalmegh, khus, palmaroja, ashwagandha, satavar, muesli, tulsi, giloy, lemon grass,

Today, 2000 kg of planting material of ‘Kosi’, ‘Sim-Kranti’ and ‘Sim-Unnati’ were provided to the farmers in Kisan Mela.
