In the women’s barracks of Moradabad district jail, about 20 women prisoners have proved their mettle. The female captives are making attractive idols of Lakshmi Ganesh as well as lamps, incense sticks and many other things from cow dung.

The buyers of these attractive statues are not only in the domestic market, companies like Amazon have also placed orders for the idols. The jail administration is excited after getting the order from Amazon. Senior Jail Superintendent Dr. Viresh Raj Sharma says that the women prisoners engaged in this work are excited after getting the order from Amazon.

Muslim women captives are also making idols

Senior Jail Superintendent Dr. Viresh Raj Sharma told that about 20 prisoners of the women’s barracks of the district jail are engaged in the construction work. Among them are Muslim women prisoners. He told that Rani, Payal, Renu, Satyavati, Damini, Manju, Momina, Sonam, Kamarjahan, Khushmina, Sabina etc., who are in jail in different cases, are making idols from cow dung.

Sculptures becoming financial support of prisoners

Senior jail superintendent said that in the jail, women prisoners are making lamps, incense sticks, incense sticks etc. This has two advantages for the prisoners. One, their time is being spent in positive work, secondly the money coming from the sale of idols is going into their accounts. Due to this, the prisoners are getting financial help.

Work started with the help of NGO

Senior Jail Superintendent informed that with the help of Divigya Care Wellness Foundation, the work of idol making was started in the jail. Gradually, the skills of the prisoners were showing color. When the skills of women prisoners reached out of the bars, orders for statues also started coming from companies like Amazon.
