Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani
On Wednesday, Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani took over as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Command. On assuming command at Lucknow, the General Officer paid homage at the Smriti War Memorial, Lucknow. After this he was given a guard of honour. During this, while congratulating all the ranks, he talked about taking forward the excellent work and ensuring the operational readiness of the Central Command.
Alumni of IMA Dehradun
An alumnus of the National Defense Academy, Khadakwasla and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, the General Officer was commissioned into the Garhwal Rifles in 1985. He is an alumnus of Joint Services Command Staff College, Bracknell (UK) and National Defense College, New Delhi. He holds a Master of Arts degree from King’s College, London and an MPhil in Defense Studies from the University of Madras.
37 years of illustrious career
He has served in a wide spectrum of conflict and high altitude terrain profiles and has held a number of prestigious command, staff and instructional appointments. The General Officer commanded his battalion in Operation Rhino, an Infantry Brigade on the International Border and in the Counter Insurgency Area in Assam as part of the Black Cat Division in North East India. The General Officer also commanded the Premier Kharga Corps in North India Area and Ambala in 2020.

The General Officer has also been Divisional Officer at the National Defense Academy, Brigade Major of a Mountain Brigade, Assistant Military Secretary in the Military Secretary’s Branch, Colonel General Staff at Headquarters Eastern Command, Deputy Director General Military Intelligence at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence. Brigadier General Staff at Eastern Command, Chief Instructor at Defense Services Staff College, Wellington and Chief of Staff at Headquarters Northern Command.
