Chhattisgarh’s first film city can be developed in Mahasamund district of the state. It has already started. State Culture Minister Amarjit Bhagat, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s advisor Gaurav Dwivedi and district administration officers arrived for the site visit.

The state government is soon going to set up a film city in Birbira village of Mahasamund district. After the formation of Chhattisgarh Film City, local people including thousands of artists, technicians and producers-directors associated with the film industry in the state will get its benefits. During the inspection, the Culture Minister said that this is a suitable place for making a film city. Local culture and tourism will get a separate recognition at the national level through Film City.

Our film city will be no less than anyone
Gaurav Dwivedi, advisor to state government and expert in film policy, told Dainik Bhaskar that a film city like Mumbai or Hyderabad can be developed at this spot. This will provide maximum employment opportunities to the local youth here. Locations like Kodar Dam, Sirpur and Baranvapara are just a few seconds from this spot. Due to this, the makers also get interesting locations for film making. If the distance of this place from Raipur is not much, then connectivity with the capital will be beneficial. It is also being considered to develop a Bollywood theme park, a tourist destination.

District administration will give 327 acres of land
Mahasamund collector Nileshkumar Kshirsagar said that about 327 acres of revenue land is being identified here. Told that this spot is situated at a distance of about 4-5 kms from Birbira National Highway, about 50 kms from Nava Rayupar. Due to better road connectivity, the work will be easier here.

Government wants to promote film industry
Culture Minister Amarjeet Bhagat said that the purpose of making Film City by the state government is to promote Chhattisgarhi film production, to develop Chhattisgarh as a central hub for film shooting, to attract investors in the manufacturing sector. Along with this, private investment will also be encouraged in the field of films. Along with the entertainment of the audience, the artists here are expected to feel proud of their culture through films. On the other hand, the state government is committed to furthering the art, culture and films of the state.

Nava Raipur project in Khatai
For the last about 8 years, there is talk of making a film city in the state. The place was being decided at Nava Raipur. Neither the land was found nor the project could be finalized. But now there is news that the work of preparing the film city in Birbira of Mahasamund will also start soon. In this way, the proposed project in Nava Raipur is now seen going sour. Apart from this, space was also available in Nava Raipur only around 115 acres, whereas in Birbira, work is to be done on more than 300 acres of land.

CM will decide
Departmental sources told that soon the Chief Minister of the state Bhupesh Baghel will take a final decision regarding making the film city. The blueprint of the project is being prepared by the Ministry of Culture. Soon it will be presented in the cabinet meeting. After consulting Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, it is very possible that budget provision will be made for this project in the upcoming budget. Work on this project will start from this year itself.
500 crores will be spent
The cost of the entire project is being listed. Officials associated with this project told that the cost may be around 500 crores. In this, basic facilities related to film making will be developed at this place. Sets will be made. Some landscaping, roads etc will be done. Officers are consulting experts regarding this.
