Amal Neerad earlier released a cryptic poster, causing waves of speculation in the audience. The poster features a dramatic blood-red background with a wounded wild pig surrounded by two grey-coloured wolves.

The minimalist design of the poster led many to speculate that it was a teaser for another highly anticipated project, Bilal. The picture in the centre specified the date and time of an announcement: “09.06.24, 12 PM IST, An Amal Neerad film.”

Later, the title of the film was unveiled by the filmmaker as Bougainvillea. Lalo Jose and Amal Neerad wrote the script for the film.
