Jasprit Bumrah dismisses Mushfiqur Rahim
The 41st over saw Bumrah bowler a nip-backer which clipped the top of the off stump as Mushfiqur decided to leave the ball. The veteran batter misjudged and paid the price.
Speedster Jasprit Bumrah struck early in the morning session after the action at Green Park, Kanpur resumed on Monday, following a 2-day rain interruption. The second and third days of the ongoing India vs Bangladesh Test were called off, without a ball being bowled, due to incessant rain and a wet outfield.
On Monday morning, Bangladesh resumed their first innings at 107/3 with Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim returning to bat. The 41st over saw Bumrah bowler a nip-backer which clipped the top of the off stump as Mushfiqur decided to leave the ball. The veteran batter misjudged and paid the price, handing an early breakthrough to India.
Surprisingly, it was the first wicket for India after 2 days. Rain has been playing the spoilsport since the beginning of the Test match last week. The opening day was called off after lunch break with Bangladesh scoring 107 runs for a loss of three wickets in 35 overs.
The rain got heavier the next day, forcing the match officials to call off the entire day following multiple inspections. It didn’t rain on Sunday either, but the field wasn’t arid which led to the abandonment of the third day as well.
