Florida boy, 10, whose perp walk went global, faces July 11 court date

Days after the Uvalde school shooting, the Lee County sheriff posted the arrest of a child from Cape Coral, Florida. The boy’s father says his texts were no school threat.

  • Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno posted a video to Facebook of the handcuffed boy being arrested.
  • The boy’s father says he did not threaten anyone and instead the incident is an bad joke.

In the week after the massacre at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, police agencies across the country arrested students for allegedly making threats to commit mass killings at their schools.

Among them: a 16-year-old in Long Island, New York, accused of threatening a school shooting in an Instagram post. A middle schooler in Wisconsin, whose alleged threat prompted three schools to lock down. Ten arrests across seven school systems in the Rio Grande Valley.
