The Lokayukta arrested the food inspector Pennendra Meshram in a blue cap, taking 15 thousand bribes.
- The Food Inspector had demanded a bribe of 30 thousand in the case of three cases of the 2012 Food Case in lieu of acquitting the victim from the court.
- At the same time, in the Nainpur municipality, the assistant engineer had asked for a bribe of Rs.12,000 in lieu of the contractor’s payment of Rs.5.24 lakh.
On Saturday, two teams of Lokayukta Jabalpur caught two red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 to the food inspector in Ghantaghar and five thousand bribes to the assistant engineer in charge in the Joint Director Urban Administration Department.
In lieu of acquitting the court in three cases related to food filed in 2012, the food inspector asked for a bribe from a contractor in lieu of approval of bill payment of Rs 5.24 lakh made to the municipality in Nainpur. In both the cases, action was taken against the accused by registering a case of Prevention of Corruption Act.
Complained on February 3
According to the information, on February 3, Raja Kukreja, a resident of Tilak ward, had complained to SP Lokayukta Anil Vishwakarta. It was told that the Food Inspector and the Drug Administration are demanding a bribe of Rs.30,000 against Pennendra Meshram for acquitting him in three pending cases in 2012. The SP formed a team of DSP JP Verma, TI Swapnil Das, constables Surendra Bhadoria, Amit Gavade, Vijay Singh Bisht, Ankit Dahiya.
Caught in front of Coffee House
Accused Meshram called Raja Kukreja today in front of the coffee house at Omati Clock tower with Rs 15,000. As soon as he took a bribe of 15 thousand and put it in the pocket. The team there caught him. After this, the team reached circuit house number two with the accused and the complainant. Where after the action, the accused was released on bail.
Assistant Engineer in-charge Aditya Singh, Joint Director, Urban Administration and Development, Jabalpur, was caught taking a bribe.
Work done for Rs 5.24 lakhs in Nappa Nainpur
In the second action, in Madan Mahal, Joint Director Urban Administration and Development, Jabalpur, arrested Assistant Engineer Aditya Singh while taking a bribe of five thousand. The complainant of the case, Nainpur resident contractor Zahid Khan, had complained to the SP Lokayukta on February 3. Zahid Khan had done CC Road under Municipality Nainpur at a cost of Rs 5.24 lakh and other works.
Bribe was demanded in lieu of bill approval
The file for its bill approval came in Joint Director Urban Administration and Development, Jabalpur. In lieu of this, Assistant Engineer Aditya Singh, in charge, had asked for a bribe of 12 thousand rupees. Calling office today with five thousand rupees. On receiving the bribe amount, DSP Dilip Jhurbade, TI Manju Kiran Tirkey, SI Naresh Behera, constable Atul Srivastava, Amit Mandal and Jeet Singh were caught.
